Beginning Of Tackle Football Career
Hello guys, and welcome to the first post of my blog! This blog will be focusing on the weird things I do daily, my start of middle school, my travels on the football team, and fun events that happen for me! Please enjoy!
My first post will be about my beginning of my middle school football adventures! I have done five seasons of flag football at i9 sports, and I have also played two seasons of basketball, and one season of Soccer, but Football has clearly been my favorite sport to play and the one I am most talented at. I know the rules of the game, but I have never played tackle football, so I am completely inexperienced in the blocking and tackling parts. At my school for the fifth graders we all knew that soon we would have a chance to tryout for the NYOS Middle School Football Team. I wasn't thinking about trying out. My two best school friends were really excited. They wanted to tryout so much. Me? Not as much. Then when the tryouts came around, I found out that one of my best friends, a great kid named Bowie, wasn't going to be allowed to play. His mother didn't want him to play. So he was mad at my other friend, Trey, who was going to play and was allowed to. Bowie was mad because he wouldn't be staying out to comfort Bowie to give him company. Bowie was happy with me for not playing. But by then I was thinking about playing. I didn't tell Bowie. My parents were okay with me playing, my dad was happy, and my mom was kind of nervous, but she was fine with the idea of me playing. The next day were tryouts. I found out that eleven kids were trying out from my grade that I was friends with. I was getting pretty irritated that I wasn't trying out. Kids were calling parents to ask if they could try out. I kept telling Bowie that I might try out, but I never told him what I would really do. Finally, I called my mom. I asked her to bring me clothes to the tryout area, and I would ride the bus. She agreed, and that's what I did.
The tryouts were fun, and I liked the coaches and players. That was the first of three tryouts, the next one would be on Saturday, and the last one next Wednesday. When I got home, my mom told me that Bowie was devastated that he couldn't tryout because all his friends did, and he didn't get to. He was so sad that his mom let him try out on Saturday and Wednesday. He was then very happy, and did well. From then on, practice continued. Then we got our results. We all made the team, because their weren't to many players available. We were all happy. So now I am on the NYOS Football team. We've learned plays and their signs, routes and their signs, how to make a hawk tackle, how to use a proper angle, and a lot more great things. I think I will be prepared for the season. I'm hoping to be on the starting lineup. Wish me luck. I'm so glad that I can be on the team with all my friends. Yippee! And I hoped you enjoyed the first entry of Lucas's Blog!
